The Sarita Family

Aug 26, 2025

“In April 2025, my son was diagnosed with Stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. When we first found out that he has cancer, we were all devastated. It was overwhelming. We had lots of questions on our mind. When we realized that our insurance has limited coverage, we were downhearted. We did not know what to do and whom to ask for help and assistance. We were all trying to be strong while broken on the inside.

“The school principal where my husband works recommended Riley’s Army Triangle and, without hesitation, I looked it up and emailed them. Riley’s Army Triangle has had a great impact on us. Being in this situation and away from our family is hard. We felt like we had no one. But with Riley’s Army Triangle, we found someone who cares and is willing to help us. They are our family.“The most memorable moment with Riley’s Army Triangle was when they invited us for a Summer Kick-Off event at Pullen Park. We are excited to finally meet the people behind it so that we could personally thank them for all they do. We had fun that day. It was a breather for all of us. Moreover, I really appreciate whenever Ms. Jean [Family Liaison] texts and checks in on us. It feels good when someone is thinking of us.

“I wish more people would also understand that when someone is experiencing cancer, they need extra support not just financially but also emotionally. Sometimes a hug or text is enough for them to keep moving.”
